Arsenal will sell Aaron Ramsdale at the end of this season and Mikel Arteta is eager to sign Andriy Lunin from Real Madrid as his backup keeper.

David Raya’s arrival has pushed Ramsdale down the pecking order and the English keeper is now willing to leave North London in a bid to revive his career somewhere else. Arsenal are more than willing to cash in on him but they wish to sign 25-year-old Andriy Lunin as a replacement.

The Los Blancos brought in Kepa Arrizabalaga as Courtois’ temporary replacement after the keeper had picked up an ACL injury just before the start of the season but it’s Lunin who has been Ancelotti’s goalkeeping choice so far.

This season, Lunin has featured in 23 appearances for Madrid and he’s been one of the more consistent performers for the club, keeping 10 clean sheets.

Former Madrid man Guti has recently said on El Chiringuito TV[h/t GSFN] that Andriy Lunin has what it takes to become the future No 1 at the club.

The ex-midfielder has claimed: “I see Lunin as the goalkeeper of the future for Real Madrid.”

The 25-year-old is out of contract in 2025 but Real Madrid certainly understand his value because according to Fabrizio Romano, the club have already a new contract ready for the keeper. However, there are other rumours which suggest that Madrid will not stand in his way if he wishes to leave at the end of this season.

Andriy Lunin is yet to decide his long-term future and while Arsenal’s interest in him will definitely be flattering we think the keeper is going to sign the new deal from Madrid.

David Raya has become a consistent performer for Arsenal this season and while Lunin has been in fine form for Madrid as well, it will be a challenge for him to claim the top spot next campaign.

Courtois has picked up another injury that is going to keep him on the sidelines for a few more weeks which means Andriy Lunin will continue to have more game time at the Bernabeu. His market value is €16 million and the Gunners are offering around €17-20 million for him which seems a fair value but it’s a simple choice between Arsenal and Real Madrid for any top player.

Even if Lunin fails to break into the first team, the Ukrainian international will prefer being a benchwarmer at a club like Madrid rather than at the Emirates Stadium.
