Bayern Munich have almost given up hopes of holding onto Joshua Kimmich and the midfielder is going to leave at the end of this season.

Kimmich held talks with Bayern’s top men but the bosses have failed to convince him to sign a new deal which is why they are now ready to listen to offers in the region of €70-80 million. Several major clubs have shown an interest in the midfielder but as per rumours, it’s either going to be Man City or PSG.

Barcelona have also been tracking the German international but they are amidst a massive financial crisis so they won’t be able to meet Bayern’s asking price. This is why they have decided to pull out of this race and focus on their other targets.

Arsenal, Man United and Chelsea have also been mentioned in the list of potential suitors but these clubs only stand a chance if City and PSG back off like Barca.

Will Joshua Kimmich move to Man City or will he choose the Ligue 1?

Paying €70-80 million for a top defensive midfielder like Joshua Kimmich won’t be a problem for either of the Middle-Eastern backed teams but we think, the 29-year-old will prefer a move to Manchester over joining PSG.

Kimmich shared a good relationship with Pep and given that Rodri is the only CDM at Man City right now, the Bayern man can easily slot in without any major competition. Kalvin Phillips has turned out to be a failed signing and even Matheus Nunes has not been able to impress Guardiola this season.

At both Man City and PSG, Joshua Kimmich will be guaranteed trophies but the Cityzens are a much more well-rounded team than the Parisians. Also, the English top division is a much more fierce league and a player like Joshua Kimmich will want to mingle with the big boys.

He’s spent nine years with Bayern and he’s played more than 350 games for the club. This season, he’s started in 19 league games and his defensive contributions remain ever so stable.

Kimmich’s current market value is €75 million but given his contract expires in 2025, the interest clubs will demand that Bayern lower their value a bit. €60-65 million seems a fair ask and while the Bavarians will not want to give any discount Joshua Kimmich has refused to sign a new deal which means they have to offload him in the summer or else the 29-year-old will be free to talk to clubs from January 2025.
