Real Madrid are looking to replace their current manager Julen Lopetegui with Antonio Conte – as per the latest reports.

Yes, during the past couple of weeks, rumours have been abuzz that Florentino Perez is looking for a replacement for Madrid’s current manager and after the El Classico that rumour has picked up even more speed.

Julen Lopetegui is still the manager of Real Madrid(when this article was written) but reports in Spain suggest that Antonio Conte is the favourite to replace the former Spain boss.

The Los Blancos have reportedly already made contact with the former Chelsea boss and he could replace Lopetegui by the end of this week.

But replacing the current manager will not be a cakewalk for Antonio Conte given his contractual agreements with Chelsea.

As per the terms of his previous contract, the Italian would have to seek permission from the Blues before managing another club and reports in Italy had suggested that Antonio Conte had reached an agreement with Chelsea to be freed from his contract terms.

Now though, Sky Sports are reporting that no such deal has been made simply because the contract with Chelsea will only be binding when Antonio Conte plans to manage a club in England.

But if Antonio Conte becomes the manager of Real Madrid then there will no such contractual obligations.

Julen Lopetegui had been named the Real Madrid manager during the summer but the Spaniard has made a disastrous start to the new campaign.

And the 5-1 loss to Barcelona this weekend was surely the final nail in the coffin for Lopetegui.

As things stand, Antonio Conte is leading a one-horse race to become the next Los Blancos manager and will move into the Bernabeu as soon as Florentino Perez shows the door to Julen Lopetegui.
