Arsenal are looking to sign 31-year-old centre-back Domagoj Vida from Besiktas at the end of the 2019-20 season, according to Fanatik.

The Turkish side have been badly hit due to the current lockdown and they cannot afford to keep a player like Vida any more which is why they have decided to put him up for sale in the summer.

The report claims: “Domagoj Vida, which was brought to the Black and White people in the 2017-18 season without a testimonial fee, was among the most stable football players of the team with his performance in 3 periods when he served in Kara Kartal.

“For this reason, it was revealed that Arsenal, one of the English Premier League teams, aspired to the star name, where the new administration expected either a large discount or a separation in salary.”

Is Domagoj Vida a good signing for Arsenal?

Domagoj Vida joined Besiktas from in January of 2018 and right now he earns £50,000-a-week at the Turkish club which is something Besiktas cannot afford to pay anymore.

As per the rumours, Besiktas will be ready to sell off the 31-year-old if they receive an offer around just £9 million which is a transfer price right up Arsenal’s alley.

The Gunners cannot afford to spend too much on one player as they intend to make multiple signings and such a low price tag for such an experienced defender is really a big plus for Mikel Arteta.

Right now, the Arsenal boss has a series of defenders at his disposal but none of them have performed exceptionally so far this season. But Vida, on the other hand, has experience of playing in the World Cup final and his experience and stature can really help someone like William Saliba grow.

It is still unclear if Arsenal are serious about making a move for the Croatian international but the fact that he is available for just £9 million is sure to attract the interest from the North London club.

But before Arteta can try and sign the 31-year-old he will have to offload a few of his current central defender in order to make room for the new arrival.
