Manchester United and Liverpool are not likely to get their hands on Wolves forward Raul Jimenez at the end of the season.

Both the Premier League giants were hoping to make a move for Jimenez as Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo is looking to bring in Benfica’s talented centre-forward Carlo Vinicius.

TEAMtalk had reported: “Portuguese newspaper Record states that Nuno has in fact decided to sell Mexico international Jimenez at the end of the season.

“The newspaper claims that Wolves have set aside €60million to launch a raid on Benfica for Vinicius, who tops the Primeira Liga’s scoring charts for the campaign with 15 strikes.”

But now Liverpool and Manchester United have suffered a massive setback since Benefica are not ready to accept anything less than £88 million in exchange for the 25-year-old.

The exclusive report by The Mirror claims: “Reports in Portugal claim Wolves could be willing to go as high as £53m for the ace, who is under contract until 2024 and has also been named as a potential United target.

“But Mirror Sport understands Vinicius has a huge release clause worth £88m and Benfica are standing by it after signing him from Napoli for £15m last summer.”

If Benfica are not willing to lower their asking price then there’s no way Wolves will be able to pay such a big amount which in turn means Santo will not sanction the sale of Raul Jimenez this summer.

The 29-year-old has been in red hot form for Wolves this season scoring 13 goals and providing six assists in the Premier League alone and missing out on him will be a big setback for both Man United and Liverpool.

But we don’t think either of the two managers will worry too much since they have other targets in mind. Liverpool are chasing RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner for the longest time while Man United have been heavily linked with players like Harry Kane.

Also if Wolves do decide to part ways with Raul Jimenez then the player is likely to make a move to Liverpool rather than Manchester United.
