It’s no secret that Rangers FC manager Steven Gerrard wants to bring in a new centre-forward due to fears of losing Alfredo Morelos to a big club this summer.

The Colombian has been in fine form over the past two seasons and this has attracted the interest from many big clubs from all across Europe.

The Gers have been linked with a number of centre-forwards over the past couple of months and the latest addition that list is Real Valladolid’s Sekou Gassama.

The 25-year-old joined the La Liga side in January of 2020 and this season he has been out on loan to Liga 2 side CF Fuenlabrada. The striker has played in 20 league matches so far scoring nine goals in the process.

Some rumours had suggested that Rangers are keeping tabs on him but the Scottish Sun were quick to come out and rebuff these claims saying that the Ibrox outfit have no interest in him.

The report claimed: “RANGERS have rubbished reports linking them with a £2.7million bid for Real Valladolid striker Sekou Gassama.

“Reports in Italy suggested he was wanted by Steven Gerrard as the Light Blues boss continues planning for next season.

“Tuttomercatoweb claimed a bid had been submitted for the hitman – but SunSport understands there is NO interest from the Ibrox club.”

Now Football Insider have also backed these claims saying that Rangers FC have not made a bid for the 25-year-old.

Coming from two major sources means the Gers are not going to make a move for Gassama which is a fair assumption since Gerrard’s side have been linked with players like Lyndon Dykes and Ivan Toney.
