Arsenal once again failed to pick up three points in the Premier League this time drawing against the Blades at the Emirates.

The Gunners took the lead in the match but Sheffield scored a late goal in order to head back home with a much-deserved point.

This draw now means Arsenal have managed to pick up just one win out of their last five league matches and many believe Mikel Arteta has not been able to turn things around ever since he took charge of the club.

Yes, the results haven’t gone his way but surely the new boss has managed to shake up a lot of things ever since he’s arrived but some experts believe that the Arsenal players are just too tired and lack fitness to put the gameplan to perfect use.

But speaking after the match, the Arsenal manager though made it clear that his players gave everything on the pitch so it was not a case of exhaustion and lack of fitness but instead they were unable to warp up the match which gave the Blades a chance to come back into the match.

He said via the club’s official website: “I think they all went full gas and I think they all tried really hard.

“I think we put them under real pressure every time and we didn’t allow them to come out the way they do, to generate the overloads in wide areas and control the second phase, or put balls into the box.

“I don’t think that was the case. Maybe in the first five or 10 minutes, we had to figure out the game a little bit but after that, I think we did.

“Then when you’re 1-0 up, the last 10 minutes things change. They changed to a back four and they started to commit more bodies forward, and then they’d have six players in front of the ball.

“It’s more difficult to control when they play long balls or second balls like this. It’s not easy.”

We too agree that the Arsenal players are suffering from a lack of confidence and not fitness which is why it’s very important for them to get some kind of momentum under their belt before it’s too late for them to salvage their season.

A win vs Sheffield United would have given Arsenal some much-needed confidence since next up they travel across London to take on a Chelsea side who too are not having the best of times under their young manager Frank Lampard.
