Arsenal came out of the Stamford Bridge with a much deserved and hard-fought point as the Gunners fended off the Chelsea attack and held them to a goalless draw. But there were more than a few moments where the Arsenal fans felt that their team could have taken the lead. One time was when Aaron Ramsey hit the post after a superb solo run and the rebound fell to Alexandre Lacazette only for the Frenchman to miss a virtually open net. Another time when the Gooners felt that they had picked up a lead was when defender Shkodran Mustafi headed the ball into the back of the net and went on a wild celebration in front of the away fans. But their joy was short-lived as the lineman had flagged the goal offside.
After seeing the replays one could see that the linesman was absolutely right as Mustafi had strayed a yard or so offside when the ball was being delivered. And after the match got over the defender certainly saw the funny side of it as he posted a hilarious Instagram post.
The post is aptly captioned “At least I was not left alone during my goal celebration” as a Gunners fan is seen jumping onto the pitch in order to celebrate with Mustafi before they knew that the defender was offside.
