Arkadiusz Milik to Arsenal
Arkadiusz Milik

Arsenal and Everton are two Premier League clubs who are reportedly interested in signing striker Arkadiusz Milik from Napoli this summer.

The player has been with the Serie A side since 2016 having joined them from Ajax and this season he has racked up nine goals in 16 league matches for Napoli. The player has one year left on his current deal and apart from the two English sides, AC Milan and Juventus are also keen to land him.

But neither of these four clubs(especially Everton and Arsenal) are going to have a comfortable job in signing Milik since Napoli are reportedly asking for €50million in the form transfer fee.

Calciomercatio quotes: “Juve, Milan, Arsenal and Everton: these are, according to Tuttosport, the four suitors for Arkadiusz Milik.

“De Laurentiis’ request is 50 million euros.”

Arsenal & Everton to miss out on Arkadiusz Milik?

The player has just one more year left on his current deal so €50million is a bit of an absurd figure being quoted by Napoli and we are sure that once negotiations start, the Italian side will pull down their demands.

But the big question is by how much?

Arsenal and Everton are not expected to spend big on transfers this summer and there’s no way the two English sides can afford a fee anywhere close to €50million when they have other priorities as well.

Everton are expected to pay a big transfer fee in order to bring in Adrien Rabiot from PSG so Ancelotti will think twice before spending money on Arkadiusz Milik while, on the other hand, the Gunners need to sell one of their star players in order to fund the 26-year-old’s transfer.

Mikel Arteta is expected to sell Lacazette at the end of the current season and if this happens then the Gunners should be able to get on the negotiation table for Milik.

Or else the North London side will have to see the centre-forward join another club in the course of the coming months.

UPDATE:

Just as we were discussing how Arsenal and Everton will find it hard to get their hands on Milik, it looks like Serie A giants Juventus have agreed on terms with the striker.

Juvefc write: “Reports from Italy suggest Juventus may have already agreed terms with Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik over a summer move.

“RAI journalist Ciro Venerato reports that the Polish striker has already given the go-ahead for a switch to Juventus and agreed terms. Juve Chief Football Officer Fabio Paratici will now need to deal with Napoli to reach an agreement for the striker whose deal expires in June 2021.”

This is a major setback for both the Premier League sides since Juventus will have held talks with the 26-year-old only because they are willing to meet Napoli’s transfer demands.
