Arsenal have managed to pick up just five wins in the Premier League so far this season and next up they take on Everton away from home – a game where they could easily lose another three points.
Everton might be just three points off the relegation zone but they have performed exceptionally well during their last two matches – winning against Chelsea and drawing vs Man United.
But Arsenal, on the other hand, suffered a humiliating 3-0 loss at the hands of Manchester City last weekend at the Emirates.
And going into this weekend’s clash at Goodison Park, the North London club have a series of injury concerns and most of them are defenders.
The first and the most obvious absentee is youngster Kieran Tierney who has suffered a dislocated shoulder and will have to undergo surgery and as per the club’s statements, he will be out for around three months.
Hector Bellerin also missed the Man City game due to a hamstring injury and is now facing a race against time to be fit for the Everton game.
While some rumours claim the Spaniard will be available for selection but the major sources are of the view that only a late fitness test will determine his availability.
Sead Kolasinac replaced Tierney at left-back during the Man City defeat but he took picked an ankle injury and had to be taken off the pitch after just 40 minutes.
The Bosnian too remains a doubt for the Everton game on Saturday and like Bellerin he too will have to go through a late fitness test.
So, if Kolasinac cannot make himself fit in time then it will most likely be Calum Chambers who will have to slot into the left-back role at Goodison Park.
Apart from these fresh injuries, Rob Holding also remains an absentee as he is recovering from a knee injury and is expected to return on in the new year.
The defensive areas have been the weakest links for Arsenal this season and to add salt to the wounds, a late contingent of their defenders are right now battling with injuries.
And given the run of form Everton are in right now, the likes of Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison could pose some serious problems for David Luiz and co on Saturday.
