Ruben Loftus-Cheek was starting to come into prominence last season but unfortunately, he ruptured his Achilles tendon in May and since then he’s been on the sidelines.

The injury meant that the 23-year-old is yet to feature for Chelsea this season under new manager Frank Lampard and just a couple of days ago, the manager revealed that the player has suffered a few more setbacks in his road to recovery.

‘Ruben has had a few setbacks over the last two months,’ Lampard had said via The Metro.

‘He hasn’t had a new one but it is not flying along as much as we would want and it is not for the want of trying by everybody, including Ruben himself.

‘There is nothing worse than being injured but at the moment we are no closer to him being fit.’

This immediately meant bad news since Ruben Loftus-Cheek was expected to be out for a few more months but now it seems like he is making rapid progress.

A video has emerged where the England international can be seen doing individual training with Chelsea and he has also claimed that if everything falls into place then he could make a comeback next month.

“It’s alright, it’s been a long journey,” he said[as quoted by Football London].

“Since I’d done it I’m just grinding it out and I’ve had a few setbacks which is normal when you’ve had a big injury.

“I’m close now anyway. It’s weird because it’s blurry (on picking up the injury) I went down and I knew I did something because I heard it and it was very, very painful and then the doctor came on, did some tests on my foot and I couldn’t move it.

“If everything goes well, I’d say just over a month.”

If Ruben Loftus-Cheek can make a comeback in that timeframe then it will surely be a huge boost for Frank Lampard since Chelsea are scheduled to take on Bayern Munich in the Champions League towards the end of February which is just in line with the 23-year-old’s return.
