Arsenal are looking to make a move for Sampdoria midfielder Dennis Praet during the summer transfer window.

Dennis Praet joined the Serie A side from Anderlecht in the summer of 2016 and since then the central midfielder has been a key member of the first team squad.

During the 2018-19 season, the 24-year-old has scored 2 goals and made 2 assists in 30 league games and reports suggest that Arsenal had sent scouts to watch the player in action.

Last Sunday played against Lazio and if rumours are to be believed then Emery had sent scouts to analyse the midfielder.

Dennis Praet is a ball controlling central midfielder who can also play in a more advanced position but this season, the 24-year-old has played most of the games in the middle of the pitch.

Praet is known for his strong tackling skills which surely will be a huge advantage to Arsenal given their midfielders have failed to take control of games especially when they have played away from home.

Arsenal are set to lose Aaron Ramsey at the end of the season and Emery is desperate to replace him and the Spaniard’s first choice is Nicola Barella.

But Cagliari want somewhere around £43 million for Barella which is more or less the whole transfer budget for Arsenal during the summer transfer window.

And reports suggest that Emery is now looking at Dennis Praet as a cheap alternative to Nicola Barella.

If rumours are to be believed then a bid of around £21.5 million should be more than enough to sign Praet from Sampdoria during the summer transfer window which is a much sensible choice given the shoestring budget that Emery will have to operate on.

Aaron Ramsey will be leaving for Juventus on a free transfer which means bringing in a replacement will have to be done out of Arsenal’s own pocket. And in such a scenario, going for Dennis Praet instead of Nicola Barella makes absolute sense.
