Arsenal have been linked with a move for Ajax forward Hakim Ziyech for some time now – as per the reports.

Hakim Ziyech joined Ajax from FC Twente in the summer of 2016 for a fee of just €11 million and now the Eredivisie outfit are willing to sell him off for a transfer fee of around £30 million.

During the 2018-19 season, the right winger managed to net a staggering 21 goals and provide 24 assists in just 49 games for the club which basically means that £30 million is an absolute steal for him.

But still, the Gunners have chosen not to make a move for the Moroccan international.

Yes, as bizarre as it may sound but the North London club have chosen not to pursuit Hakim Ziyech despite the player wanting to join the Gunners.

Hakim Ziyech has previously spoken of his desire to play for Arsenal which meant that if Unai Emery chose to make a move for him then they could have very easily gotten their hands on the winger.

But according to trusted Arsenal source David Ornstein, here’s why the Gunners chose not to make a move.

Ornstein said: “Arsenal have analysed him & he’s not a player that they will be pursuing as far as I know. I think he would welcome the move [to Arsenal].

“Ajax would probably sell for around £30m but that’s not on Arsenal’s agenda.”

After the Gunners failed in the pursuit of Wilfried Zaha many experts believed that Emery would now turn his focus to Hakim Ziyech.

But clearly, that has not been the case despite the 26-year-old being available for a transfer fee of just £30 million.

This odd decision from Arsenal could either mean, Emery does not prioritise signing a forward this summer or else he still hasn’t given up hope to bring in Wilfried Zaha.
