David Luiz had another poor show for Arsenal vs Manchester City in the Premier League on Wednesday and according to Jamie Carragher, the defender along with playmaker Mesut Ozil could be on their way out in the summer.

Luiz was brought on as a sub on the 24th minute after the injury to Pablo Mari but the Brazilian was shown a red card just four minutes into the second half. Mesut Ozil, on the other hand, was not even part of the matchday squad at the Etihad.

And when Carragher was asked about the two players, the pundit admitted the duo could be shown the door at the end of the ongoing season.

“Well, to be honest, I think that’s Arsenal going forward, that’s what I’d like to see next season,” he told Sky Sports before the match, as reported.

“I wouldn’t really want to see those players involved to be honest next season, whether Mikel Arteta’s thinking like that.

“I think he is with David Luiz, I don’t think he will be there next season and I think Ozil has been a problem for the last few managers really that they can’t get him out because of the wages he’s on.

“Whether it’s a tactical decision because it’s away at Man City and they’re not going to have much of the ball, is he someone to come off the bench and really do anything from there with energy or pace?

“Not really, so I can’t see it being a problem behind the scenes maybe, maybe he thought it’s just not the game for him.”

David Luiz is set to be a free agent this summer but Arsenal do have the option of extending the deal. But after his outing on Wednesday, we don’t think Mikel Arteta will be too eager to holding onto a ticking time bomb for the upcoming season.

But dumping someone like Mesut Ozil could be a major problem for the Gunners management due to his high wages. Arsenal will either have to wait for him to run down his contract or suffer a loss in the selling of the German.
