Arsenal have already made a number of signings this summer transfer window and the next one is expected to be the arrival of Nicolas Pepe.

And speaking before the signing, Gunners boss Unai Emery has revealed the three main signings he wanted to make before the 2019-20 season.

“Nicolas Pepe is a very good player and we are thinking only about signing players who will really, really improve this squad and also give us different conditions,” he said.

“We have been working for the last few weeks to get the best team with the best players in our squad before our first game against Newcastle.

“There are different players on the table with the possibility we can achieve their signature. At the beginning of the market, we were thinking to do one centre-back, one full-back and one winger. We are still thinking the same way.

“Really I want a better team than last season with only new players who can improve the squad and help us to achieve our ambitions.”

So if the manager’s statement is anything to go by then the club have already completed two-thirds of their transfer goal.

While winger Nicolas Pepe is expected to arrive this week from Lille, the North London club have also signed defender centre-back William Saliba.

And this means the only position left to fill up is of the full-back one which means that Celtic’s left-back Kieran Tierney is still on the club’s radar.

The Gunners have been after Tierney for a number of months now but so far the club have found it really hard to convince the Bhoys to sell off the youngster.

Celtic are holding out for a transfer fee of around £25 million but so far Arsenal have agreed to pay that much money.

But experts believe that Arsenal are confident about wrapping up the transfer before the English transfer window shuts down early next month.
