Gary Neville on Man City

Manchester City are the favourites to lift the Premier League trophy at the end of the 2018-19 season and there are no two ways about it.

Pep Guardiola’s side played some of the most dominating football in Europe last season and almost everyone feels the Citizens will be able to replicate that this year too.

But alongside City, many have also put their money on Liverpool to challenge the defending champions and eight games into the new season that has proven to be true.

Liverpool and Man City are tied on points at the top of the table many both of them along with Chelsea are the only teams who are yet to taste defeat in the Premier League.

The Blues too under new manager Maurizio Sarri has been performing at the peak of their talents and some pundit have decided to put their money on Chelsea to lift the trophy – courtesy of the new manager effect.

But another club that has been slowly moving closer to the top of the table without attracting much attention are  Arsenal.

The Gunners had a woeful start to the new campaign losing both their opening games but since then they have gone on a winning spree and are currently on a nine-match unbeaten streak.

A couple of days ago, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp recognized Arsenal as a credible threat but now former Man United defender and current pundit Gary Neville has rebuffed those claims.

“I don’t think Arsenal,(will challenge for the title)” said Neville on Sky Sports.

“I don’t think they’ll be challenging for the title.

“[Chelsea] have started the season well. But after eight games I still think it’s very early to think about Chelsea challenging [Man City or Liverpool].”

Gary Neville still believes that the Premier League will be a two-horse race and have chosen not to recognize both Chelsea and Arsenal as challengers.

While we agree that it is too early in the season to predict anything but given the way both the London clubs have started the new season, we dare not put the Premier League trophy out of their reach.
