Arsenal and Tottenham played out the first North London Derby of the season and it was Unai Emery’s side who came out on top.

The Gunners took the lead through an Aubameyang penalty after Jan Vertonghen handled the ball inside the box.

After that goal, Arsenal looked to be on top and should have closed down the match in the first half itself.

But Spurs found a way back and it was the Lilywhites who went into half-time with a 2-1 lead.

Unai Emery needed to make an impactful change and hence decided to bring in Aaron Ramsey in place of Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

And this move proved to be a masterstroke.

The whole game swung in favour of the Gunners and two quickfire goals from Lacazette and Torriera helped secure the three points for Unai Emery’s men.

But amongst all this, there was one thing missing – the presence of Mesut Ozil on the pitch.

Ozil was part of the new manager’s plans during the early weeks of the season but as the months have rolled along, the German has found himself warming the benches.

And now it is more or less certain, the Gunners boss does not feel the need to include Mesut Ozil during high-intensity games.

The playmaker though has shown his full support towards the team after the Gunners overcame Spurs 4-2 on Sunday.

Mesut Ozil wrote on Twitter:

“When @seadk6 pulls out the Emirates corner flag then you know something big has happened. Proud of the whole team. North London is red!”

Unai Emery seems to have settled down on his favourite first eleven for the current season and by the looks of it, Mesut Ozil is not a part of it.

Aaron Ramsey has already been told to find a new club by the end of the season and maybe Mesut Ozil will be the next one out of the door.
