Chelsea overcame their disappointment from last week as they beat Fulham 2-0 at home this weekend.

Pedro started the scoring in the 4th minute and then substitute Ruben Loftus Cheek added the second eight minutes before time to seal off a regulation victory over their London rivals.

But speaking after the game, Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri claims that one of his players still has room to improve despite having a good game against Fulham.

The Italian was obviously talking about N’Golo Kante who has been under the stoplight ever since Chelsea’s loss to Spurs.

Kante has been deployed in a new role this season one which has not brought out the best of the World Cup winner.

But the manager is adamant that N’Golo Kante will not be getting his old position back and hence needs to improve on his new job.

“I think he [Kante] played very well, he defended very well. He needs to improve a little more from the tactical point of view but it is natural. In the national team, he usually plays with two midfielders,” Sarri said.

“In the last season sometimes with two players, sometimes with three midfielders but in the central position. I think it is normal that he needs to improve.

“I think that today it was really very important to get a result,

“We started very well, then after the 1-0, I think the players on the pitch had a very good level of application, attention but without trying to kill the match. We needed to kill the match before. I think today we were a little bit tense.

“Of course it wasn’t easy, the days after Tottenham for me and the players. We have talked too much about that match. We lost a match after three-and-a-half months. It can happen. Today it was important to react.”

While N’Golo Kante has not complained one bit about playing in a new role but a number of people have questioned Maurizio Sarri’s decision about playing Jorginho in a role where the Frenchman has thrived ever since he broke into the scene with Leicester City.
