Arsenal suffered a setback this past weekend as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Crystal Palace in the English Premier League. And next up they travel to Anfield in order to take on Liverpool in the League Cup.

The Gunners were on their way to a comfortable victory vs Palace but they let a 2 goal lead slip which means Unai Emery’s men are now 12 points adrift the top spot.

Liverpool are obviously the outright favourites to win this encounter on Wednesday but some people will be hoping that Arsenal can come back with a positive response after going through a series of bad results during the past couple of weeks.

Unai Emery might have wanted to rest a few of his first-team regulars in midweek but after the draw vs Palace, the manager will surely be forced to name his best XI at Anfield.

Arsenal news vs Liverpool:

The biggest Arsenal news will most certainly be regarding captain Granit Xhaka who was booed off the pitch during the clash vs Crystal Palace and to add fuel to the fire, the midfielder chose to abuse the home crowd.

While some reports claim the manager will not drop him for the Liverpool vs Arsenal clash but if sense prevails then the Swiss international will most certainly be punished.

If Xhaka is dropped off from the squad then it will be Lucas Torreira who will partner Matte Guendouzi in central midfield.

Dani Ceballos started vs Palace on Sunday but the loanee might drop back to the bench in midweek to make way for Joe Willock.

Sokratis and Luiz started in central defence on Sunday but either one of them could be rested as Unai Emery would want to give some game time to Rob Holding.

Kieran Tierney could also drop back on to the bench as Kolasinac comes back into the first XI. Hector Bellerin is also expected to replace Calum Chambers at right-back.

Aubameyang and Lacazette started in a two-man front line on Sunday but playing away from home, Emery is expected to change his formation with Auba coming back into the left-flank.

Lacazette will play as the lone striker upfront while Nicolas Pepe plays on the other flank.

Note: Many people have been hoping that Mesut Ozil might come back into the squad in midweek but we don’t think Unai Emery will have any change of heart.
