Jose Mourinho Tottenham take on Chelsea
Jose Mourinho

Jose Mourinho has been without work ever since he left Manchester United in December of last year but during the past couple of weeks, he has been heavily linked with the managerial role at Arsenal.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has done a lot of good things at the club but the club cannot seem to shift gears and move back to the top level which is why many rumours claim the management are looking to bring in Jose Mourinho.

Obviously the Gunners management will not sack Emery during the course of the season but surprisingly Mourinho was present during Arsenal’s Europa League match against Vitoria SC last Thursday.

And this appearance is obviously given rise to a number of rumours with many people claiming that Jose Mourinho has his eyes set on the managerial chair at the Emirates.

Kris Boyd while speaking on Sky Sports has also predicted that the former Man United boss is eager to get back into management and the Portuguese might be looking to replace Unai Emery.

“He’d be a great fit for Arsenal, to be honest,” Kris Boyd told Sky Sports’ The Debate(as reported by The Express).

“When you look at Unai Emery, not much has changed from when Arsene Wenger was in charge.

“He’s obviously there for a reason – maybe just taking in a game you never know.

“Guys like that don’t go to games just for the sake of it. I think Jose Mourinho would be a fantastic fit at Arsenal.

“It’s a club that needs a major overhaul, and he would be the man to do it for me.”

OPINION:

Arsenal will hopefully not make the rash decision of bringing in Jose Mourinho during the middle of the season but some reports claim that if the Gunners fail to qualify for the Champions League then surely Unai Emery will be shown the door.

And while some aspects of Arsenal’s game have improved under the Spanish manager but there is still major chaos amidst the squad as well as unrest amongst the fans which was evident this weekend with the whole Granit Xhaka fiasco.

So if Unai Emery wants to keep his job and avoid being replaced by Jose Mourinho then apart from asking his players to play great football, the manager also needs to put his foot down and take control of the dressing room.
