Arsenal picked up a stellar win over Liverpool last weekend and Mikel Arteta will be eager to keep the momentum going by making it four wings in a row when they face West Ham United on Sunday.
The Gunners, after the 3-1 win over Liverpool are now five points behind Klopp’s team but a win on Sunday and they can get back within two points of the Premier League leaders.
Liverpool won against Burnley on Saturday which means the pressure will be on Mikel Arteta’s side to maintain the pressure. Every game is a must-win for the Gunners and while a loss won’t affect their position on the table, Spurs and Aston Villa will be breathing down their necks.
West Ham are now winless in 2024 but the Hammers haven’t lost to Arsenal in their previous three meetings. West Ham will be playing at home and Moyes’ men will be eager to inflict a blow to Arsenal’s title hopes but we really do not see anything other than a win for the North London outfit.
Arsenal’s team news and injuries:
Bukayo limped off of the pitch in the win against Liverpool but Mikel Arteta has revealed that the forward will be fit and available to play.
The manager said in his pre-match press conference: “He’s been recovering this week and he looks okay.”
Jurrien Timber and Vieira remain long-term absentees while midfielder Thomas Partey has been unfortunate with another injury setback.
Mikel added: “He is progressing really well but it’s a bit too soon to tell you exactly when we’re going to have him back.”
Oleksandr Zinchenko was also forced off against Liverpool while Gabriel Jesus is out with a knee injury. The Arsenal manager has told the press that they are in contention to play but he will only take a final call after Saturday’s training session.
Arteta said: “We have a few still in contention. They’ve been evolving really well, so tomorrow we’ll have another training session. We’re hopeful we’re going to have a few back and that we can put out a very competitive squad out there.”
It was Kai Havertz who led the line against Liverpool and if Jesus is not available then the German will start up front once again. However, Leandro Trossard came off the bench to score so he will also be pushing for a start.
