Arsenal have finally made their first ‘BIG’ signing of the season in the form of Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon. And while he is not Kylian Mbappe, like everyone had hoped. But Lacazette is no pushover himself.

Who is Lacazette?

Lacazette arrives at Arsenal from French club Lyon. The 26-year-old forward is a youth product at Lyon and has spent 8 seasons with the senior side making his debut back in 2010. During his time at the club, he has made 275 appearances scoring 129 times.

Last season Lacazette ended his campaign with 28 goals. Only PSG’s Edinson Cavani had more goals(35) that season. Alexandre Lacazette also has 11 caps for his national team France having made his debut in 2013 against a friendly versus Uruguay.

Why can he fit perfectly at Arsenal?

Well for starters, Lacazette can be a perfect partner for Mesut Ozil. Something that the German playmaker has been wanting for a really long time. History has it that Ozil plays his best football when he has someone who is making runs in front of him. That is when Ozil can come up with those delicious through balls and over-the-top passes.

With the likes of both Walcott and Welbeck failing to fit that brief, Lacazette might finally be the answer to Ozil’s prayers. The French forward is quick and nimble on his feet. He has the gift of sudden burst of pace and can change gears with much ease. He is the type of player who likes to hang in and around the opponents penalty area.  Something that will be blessing for the likes of Ozil and Co.

And perhaps the most important aspect of all is the fact that this lad can score goals. Something that Arsenal have been missing for quite some time now. Someone who can take that burden of 30 goals per season. Probably the last player they had was Robin Van Persie. But after that Arsenal’s forward line has been reduced to players who show occasional sparks of brilliance but fail exactly when called up.

But that could easily change with the arrival of Alexandre Lacazette. The 26-year-old Frenchman is no stranger to scoring goals. He knows the pressure and responsibiity of being the central striker of a team. And statistics prove that he can deliver.
