Fulham FC have named Claudio Ranieri as their new manager as they look to stay afloat in the Premier League this season.

The Cottagers are currently rock bottom on the league table with just five points and they recently sacked their manager Slavisa Jokanovic.

But as per the latest gossip, Claudio Ranieri was not the first choice for the Premier League outfit.

As per reports, Fulham had identified Arsene Wenger as the replacement to Jokanovic.

Arsene Wenger left Arsenal at the end of the previous season and the Frenchman is yet to return to management.

While he has maintained that he wishes to get back into management but no major deal has come his way – until Fulham that is.

It is being reported that Fulham had approached Arsene Wenger to become their manager but the Frenchman chose to reject the offer.

But why?

Well, it seems that Arsene Wenger rejected the offer out of respect for Arsenal.

When the manager was leaving Emirates he had made a promise to not manage any other Premier League club and by rejecting Fulham, Arsene Wenger was just keeping his end of the deal.

A number of clubs have shown interest in bringing Arsene Wenger onboard during the past couple of months but up until now, there had been no concrete news.

It is pretty clear that Arsene Wenger will not be managing any Premier League club and many pundits have claimed that the Frenchman will ultimately head back to Ligue 1.
