Rangers travel across Glasgow to take on Celtic FC in the Premiership this Sunday.

And Gers boss Steven Gerrard has confirmed that left-back Borna Barisic will miss this encounter due to an injury.

Speaking to Rangers TV, the manager said:

“Obviously we have had a bit of a setback with Borna, who has a bit of a hamstring problem which makes him a huge doubt for the weekend. So that is disappointing.”

And now Borna Barisic has himself come out to apologize to the Rangers fans for his absence during the Derby.

He said: “It’s the same injury I had before on my left leg and I will miss a minimum of two weeks.

“I’m sorry that I will have to skip the big derby with Celtic.

“Unfortunately, it’s not the first time I have had to miss the biggest match in Scotland either.

“Now I have to focus on recovery.

“I did the best I could for my country against Hungary, but we suffered a disappointing defeat.”

Borna Barisic joined the Gers during the summer and this campaign he has been one of the first names on the teamsheets for Steven Gerrard.

So naturally, his absence will most certainly be a big blow for the Teddy Bears and Halliday is expected to play at left-back at Celtic Park on Sunday.
