Rangers brought in Brona Barisic from NK Osijek for a transfer fee of around €2.45 million during the summer of 2018.

But the left-back has failed to make the impact which Steven Gerrard would have been hoping for.

Last season, Borna Barisic played in only 15 Premiership games for Rangers making three assists.

But despite the snub last time around, the left-back has made it clear that he is making an extra effort to come back into the limelight and become a regular for Rangers during the 2019-20 season.

Speaking to a Croatian publication, Barišić said(as reported): “The truth is I couldn’t get back into the team last season after an injury because they kept winning games. That’s the way it is with Rangers – they are a great club with great players.

“I really have a brilliant relationship with Steven Gerrard. We talk about tactics and current issues. There are no problems. I feel great here and I am completely devoted to Rangers. Life in Glasgow is really good.

“I had a week off during the summer but decided to use that vacation to do additional training instead.

“I did it to try and make sure I was ready for the new season ahead. So it was nice to hit that free-kick against St Joseph’s. Some people gave the goal to me and others to Connor Goldson, but it doesn’t matter anyway.

“I know all about the philosophy of the club. It’s all about winning and I want to be a part of it.”

Now though fresh reports are suggesting that French side Dijon have shown an interest in signing Borna Barisic this summer.

Soccer Link are claiming: “Saved in extremis of a relegation in Ligue 2, the Dijon Football Côte-d’Or wishes to reinforce itself to not live again the same scenario this season.

“The club wants to recruit the left side of Glasgow Rangers (Scottish Premier League) namely Borna Barisic, 26 years old. This recruitment would be done in the context of the replacement of Oussama Haddadi, party on the side of Al-Ettifaq Club (Saudi Arabia)

“Borna Barisic is willing to hear any offers that will come up to him.”

Dijon are yet to make a formal offer to Rangers for Borna Barisic but it will be interesting to see what the Gers boss’ response is in case the offer is close to what they actually paid to sign the left-back.
