Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi has been one of the most sought after youngsters in the whole of Europe during the past year and a half but right now he is sidelined with an injury.

The winger ruptured his Achilles tendon in April this year during a 2-2 draw against Burnley which in turn forced him to miss the whole pre-season under new manager Frank Lampard.

And this was a massive blow for the manager because the club weren’t able to sign a new player during the summer due to the transfer ban.

But it looks like the football Gods are finally smiling upon Lampard as Callum Hudson-Odoi returned back to training a couple of weeks ago and now he has himself put a date on his possible first XI call-up.

Speaking to the club(as reported), the winger has predicted that he should be fit for selection once the team reports back after the international duty.

The teenager said: “Recovery has gone really well and I feel good,”

“Hopefully, I can be back after the international break. We have to just get things going and hopefully, everything goes to plan.

“I was scared it could take longer but really recovery has gone very well and I am really happy everything has gone to plan. Now I just can’t wait to get back on the pitch and start playing again.”

Callum Hudson-Odoi operates down the left wing which was previously occupied by Eden Hazard but now that the Belgian international has moved to Real Madrid, Lampard is hoping the youngster can become the heir to that throne.

In his absence, the likes of Mason Mount and Pulisic have been playing down the left-hand side but once Hudson-Odoi returns, the manager should free up that space for him.

But this is also bad news for veterans Pedro and Willian since the return of Callum Hudson-Odoi means Christian Pulisic will move to the right flank and the duo are more or less certain to fall down the pecking order.
