Celtic FC are planning to gear up for the exit of Odsonne Edouard as they have shown an interest in signing 24-year-old Shon Weissman – as per a report in the Telegraph.
The report claims: “Celtic will consider a move for Israel striker Shon Weissman should they lose Odsonne Edouard to a Premier League club.
“The Scottish champions are determined to keep Edouard, 22, for next season’s attempt at 10 consecutive titles but their France forward has attracted interest from English clubs such as Arsenal.
“Weissman, who has been prolific for Wolfsberger AC in the Austrian Bundesliga, is one of their priorities should they need to bolster their attack when the next transfer window opens.”
Shon Weissman currently plays for Austrian side Wolfsberger AC having joined the side last summer on a free transfer and this season he has been one of the best players in the Austrian Bundesliga.
The 24-year-old has scored 22 goals in just 21 league matches during the 2019-20 season and Neil Lennon wants the Israeli to replace Edouard next season.
Odsonne Edouard has been the subject of interest from a number of top Premier League clubs and while the Bhoys would love to hold onto him, we doubt if they will be able to achieve this objective.
Arsenal and Spurs are very ardent on landing the Frenchman and if they can offer a substantial transfer fee, Celtic will be forced to sell him off.
Weissman has just one year left on his current deal at Wolfsberger and as per TransferMarkt, the centre-forward is valued at £2.16 million.
Celtic FC are demanding a fee of around £30 million to let Odsonne Edouard leave for England meaning if the former PSG moves to the PL, paying a considerable fee for Shon Weissman should not be a major concern for the Hoops during the summer.
