Celtic FC look home and dry in the Premiership this season and it looks like Neil Lennon’s men are en route to pick up yet another title.

The Bhoys are currently sitting pretty on top of the league table – 10 points ahead of their arch-rivals Rangers FC.

And whether you like him or hate him but Brendan Rodgers had done a wonderful job.

But according to pundit Chris Sutton, despite the fine display, Celtic are missing the services of their forward Leigh Griffiths.

Leigh Griffiths is currently on a special leave due to “ongoing issues”, including some relating to his mental health and Odsonne Edouard has acted as his replacement during this time.

“Leigh Griffiths needs to be fully ready before he returns to action,” Sutton wrote in his Daily Record column(as reported).

“But, for the sake of his club and his country, it would be wonderful if he could be sighted again before the end of the campaign.

“Griffiths has become a bit of a forgotten man at Parkhead having been on the sidelines for so long and the signings of Oliver Burke and Timothy Weah helping to cover with his absence.

“But, to my mind, he remains the club’s out-and-out No.9 and he’s been a huge miss.

“That Celtic have managed to muddle through the second half of the campaign without having him has to be to the great credit of the lads who have stepped into the breach.

“Burke has managed to plug a gap and Odsonne Edouard has come up with some big goals at crucial times for Neil Lennon since he took the reins from Brendan Rodgers during last month.

“Edouard has nabbed a couple of last-gasp goals away to Hearts and Dundee to win games but I’ve got to be honest, I haven’t seen anything which compensates or makes up for Griffiths’ absence.

“It’s been right and proper that he’s been left to recover in his own time with expert help and the club have been brilliant in giving him the time he’s needed to get himself back on track.

“If he needs that time to be extended and he needs more time on the sidelines, then so be it.

“The guy’s personal health comes before football matters and I think it’s been great that people have recognised that, especially his employers.”
