Celtic have been trying to sign Jota on a permanent deal and as per Portuguese media outlet A Bola, the Bhoys are all set to wrap up the deal.

The report is claiming that Celtic are in an advanced stage of negotiations with Benfica and the club are confident that they will be able to wrap up a deal very soon.

Jota has been at Parkhead on a season-long loan deal but rumours had suggested that there is a transfer fee included in the loan agreement. The rumours claim the fee is around £6.5million and Celtic have no issues in paying the said price.

The 23-year-old is primarily a winger but he can also play as a centre-forward and this season, he’s scored 10 and assisted 10 goals in 29 Premiership games so it’s pretty clear why Ange Postecoglou wants to hold onto him.

A Bola are claiming that even the player is ready to commit his future to Celtic and once he comes back from holiday, he wants to head straight back to Parkhead.

Once the nits and grits of the deal are agreed upon, Benfica will agree on a sale and as per some reports, the Portuguese side wants to add a 30 per cent sell-on clause in the deal.

A sell-on clause is very common for clubs in Scotland so Celtic will have no problem agreeing to this demand.

No other club is currently in the run-in to sign Jota so the SPFL side can take their time and work out the deal but Postecoglou will want him back for the pre-season camp.

During his loan stint, Jota has already won two trophies with Celtic and next year, he will also have the opportunity to play in the Champions League group stage next season.
