Spurs pulled off a dramatic comeback vs Ajax this week in the Champions League semi-final which means the final will be an all-English affair.
On Tuesday Liverpool outclassed Barcelona in fine fashion beating the Catalans 4-0 in the second leg and thus securing their second Champions League final in succession.
But little did everyone know that this high-intensity match would have been followed by yet another one, this time during the Spurs vs Ajax came.
Spurs beat Ajax 3-2 in the second leg of the semis thus winning the two-legged tie on away goals.
And this is certainly a proud moment for everyone associated with the English Premier League.
It has been ages since the Champions League final has been played by two English clubs – the last one coming way back during the 2007-08 season when Man United squared off against Chelsea.
But it looks like England manager Gareth Southgate is not too pleased with this fixture.
England performed exceptionally during the 2018 World Cup under the guidance of Southgate and the manager was hoping to lead England to their first major tournament win since 1966.
Now though, those preparations have taken a serious blow thanks to the Champions League finals.
A number of England’s first team regulars play for Liverpool and Spurs which means that they will not be free for the Three Lions camp on time.
As per reports, as many as 10 players will join the England squad late which is a serious blow for Southgate.
England take on Holland on Thursday, June 6, just five days after Liverpool take on Tottenham in the Champions League final.
Five days is surely not enough to overcome the fatigue of a full season which might force Gareth Southgate to rest a number of his first-team regulars.
Another major concern is Harry Kane who is currently out injured but might return back to action for the Champions League final.
In such a scenario, there is a big chance that Harry Kane might be the subject of a patchwork from the Spurs medical staff in order to get him ready for the Champions League final which in turn might be another setback for Gareth Southgate.
