Rangers frontman Alfredo Morelos has been in fine form this season despite picking up all the red cards.

Alfredo Morelos joined the Gers in 2017 from Helsinki, and this season the player has already notched up 29 goals across all competitions despite missing a number of matches through suspension.

The player signed a contract extension in March but still, reports are ripe that the Colombian might be on his way out of the club during the summer.

Scoring so many goals has obviously brought Alfredo Morelos into the limelight and a number of top European clubs have shown interest in signing him up.

One club who are said to be at the front of the queue are Ligue 1 side Marseille.

Reports claim that Marseille have already enquired about the prospect of signing the 22-year-old but are yet to make any direct contact with Rangers.

Now though, it looks like the French club might very well have to back out from the deal.

Steven Gerrard is very much aware the hype that Alfredo Morelos has generated in the transfer market this season and the Gers right now have slapped an £18 million price tag on the striker.

And this is a big issue for Marseille.

The Ligue 1 side are currently under immense scrutiny and one wrong over expensive transfer might cause them to breach the Financial Fair Play rules.

Up until now, Marseille were hoping to sign Alfredo Morelos for a fee of around £10 million but now that the price has gone up, some rumours claim that the club have no other option but to pull out.

This news will surely have mixed response amongst the Rangers management.

On one hand, the club’s pursuit of holding onto Alfredo Morelos have grown that bit stronger and on the other hand, they might very well have lost a top-rated buyer.
