Chelsea are currently sixth in the Premier League table and next up they welcome league leaders Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
The Blues have had a mixed start to their campaign under their new boss Frank Lampard but things were looking a lot brighter after they picked up a resounding 5-2 win over Wolves last weekend.
Unfortunately though, all that energy fizzled out on Tuesday as the Blues went down 1-0 to Valencia in the Champions League and many experts believe this loss will unfavourably affect the players’ mindsets when they take on Liverpool.
But according to Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham, things will pan the other way round as Liverpool will likely be facing the rage of the Blues on Sunday.
“(Sunday) is a test of character. We can take our anger out against Liverpool,” Abraham told Sky Sports(as reported by Goal).
“It’s a massive game and both teams will be going to win. We’ll look forward to putting (tonight’s defeat) right.
“It’s still early doors (in the Champions League). We’re fuming we lost today. But there’s still five games to go – we just have to win our next five.
“We’re obviously disappointed. We didn’t play our best football. Valencia came and stopped us playing the way we wanted so you have to give them credit.
“We’re going to have a lot of ups and downs in a season. We’ve got to move on and not dwell on it.”
Liverpool too started their Champions League campaign with a 2-0 loss to Napoli and just like Chelsea, they will also be looking to redeem themselves on Sunday.
The Reds are yet to lose a game in the league this season but that should not stop Chelsea from going all out to pick up all three points.
While Lampard would be hoping that his players can give their 100 per cent vs Liverpool but we have our doubts over Chelsea’s success – primarily because the manager will be without a few of his key first-team players.
