Rangers FC kick-off their Europa League campaign on Thursday when they take on Feyenoord at the Ibrox Stadium.

And the Gers will need to pick up a win in this match if they wish to have any major change in moving to the next round.

Rangers have been slotted in Group G of the Europa League alongside Feyenoord, Porto and Young Boys meaning the Gers are currently at the bottom of the pecking order.

So if the Gers are serious about the UEL then they will have to ensure that they pick up maximum points from both the games against Feyenoord.

But according to pundit Charlie Nicholas, it would be really difficult for Rangers to pick up a win vs the Dutch side primarily due to the lack of one thing.

“This will be a fiery game,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.

“Feyenoord have a strong reputation. Feyenoord have the passion but are not bringing the support they would always bring.”

“Rangers enjoy these nights and that is why Steven Gerrard is there.

“They have not clicked into gear just yet though. Jaap Stam’s side will sit in for 20-25 minutes and this could cause frustration around Ibrox – this is when they could pounce.

Alfredo Morelos is the threat and Feyenoord will be winding him up to see if they can get to him. He seems a lot calmer than what he has been in the past! It is not an easy night.

“It will be tense and very physical. I don’t know if Rangers quite have the knowledge to get through these games yet.”

Rangers have so far lost just a single game in the Premiership and also performed exceptionally well in the Europa League qualifiers.

But this match against Feyenoord might very well decide the tone of Group G for the upcoming matchdays.
