Everton saw their fortunes turn this weekend as they beat Chelsea 3-1 in the Premier League under the guidance of Duncan Ferguson.
The Blues went into this match on the back of a 2-1 win over Aston Villa and it seemed like Lampard had managed to steady the ship after suffering losses to Man City and then West Ham United.
But clearly Everton were the better side on the day and the likes of Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison picked apart the Chelsea defence.
And according to Alan Shearer, the Everton forwards were able to expose Chelsea’s biggest weakness – the defensive pairing of Kurt Zouma and Christensen.
Shearer said: “I was hugely impressed with him [Calvert-Lewin] because he absolutely battered the two centre-halves, [Kurt] Zouma and [Andreas] Christensen, he didn’t give them a moment’s peace.

“When you’re a forward, if you can’t win a header, then make sure the defender can’t win it either. He did it all afternoon.
“He uses his body, he uses his strength. The two centre-halves didn’t know what day it was and he did it brilliantly. He’s too strong for Christensen, he deserved that, doing his work rate for his team and winning the ball back.
“They couldn’t handle him, they didn’t want to have a fight with him or a scrap with him.
“Big Dunc [Everton’s interim boss Duncan Ferguson] would have been proud of that because that’s what he did as a player, he bullied centre-halves, and that’s what Calvert-Lewin did today.”
The likes fo Zouma, Tomori and Christensen have looked really fragile all throughout the season and right now Lampard is eagerly waiting for the return of Antonio Rudiger.
Chelsea’s transfer ban has also been lifted meaning they are free to buy players during the January transfer window and there’s absolutely no doubt that the first thing Lampard would want to buy is a top-class centre-back.
