Chelsea are out int the market this month looking for a new striker and for the longest time, it was being believed that the Blues are going after Gonzalo Higuain.

Chelsea currently have two misfiring strikers in the form of Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud and right now Sarri is desperate to solve this problem.

Up until now, the Italian manager was playing Eden Hazard as a false nine in order to avoid using either of his two strikers and with the transfer window reopening, the Blues were expected to launch a bid for Gonzalo Higuain.

But now reports are suggesting that Chelsea are planning to scrap the idea of going after the Argentinian international.

The report suggests that the Blues have come to the conclusion that Gonzalo Higuain is not the right man to solve their goal crisis and the club have now decided not to launch a bid for him this month.

Higuain joined AC Milan from Juventus on loan for the current season and so far the 31-year-old has played in 15 Serie A games – scoring six goals.

Many pundits feel that the reason why Chelsea have backed off is due to the age of the player and the management do not want to splurge cash on a player who is over 30 years old.

UPDATE:

On Saturday though, Italian publication Calciomercato are claiming that Chelsea have re-entered the race to sign Gonzalo Higuain and the team will launch a bid for the player sometime next week.

As per the latest report, Chelsea wanted to sign Edinson Cavani from PSG this month but the Paris outfit are not interested in selling their front man.

And due to this, the Blues have chosen to re-ignite their interest in Gonzalo Higuain.

AC Milan have the option to outright buy Gonzalo Higuaín the following season for €36 million but Chelsea feel the Italian club are not interested in triggering this clause.

Now we have to see whether Chelsea make a move for the 31-year-old next week.
