Chelsea will take on Spurs in the EFL Cup and the Blues will be eager to bounce back from their defeat against Arsenal last weekend.

The Blues trail the two-legged fixture 1-0 and most people believe that it will be the Lilywhites who will come out the eventual winner – thanks to the poor run of form that Chelsea have been having.

But Spurs have recently been hit with a number of injuries which will give Sarri’s men a lot of hope.

On top of that, the Blues have only one major injury concern in the form of Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Chelsea news vs Spurs:

Loftus-Cheek is currently recovering from a back injury and the player is not expected to take part in any game this month.

Apart from that, the Blues manager has a fully fit squad to choose from but the manager right now is waiting for Gonzalo Higuain to become a Chelsea player.

The Juventus man will be signing for Chelsea and reports suggest that the transfer will be completed by Wednesday.

This means that the Argentinian will surely be a part of the matchday squad vs Spurs. And chances are that Higuain will also start the game.

If Higuain plays as the front striker then it would mean that Eden Hazard will get back his natural role on the left flank which in turn would mean that Willian would drop down to the bench.

Callum Hudson Odoi might also get a start and the youngster will hopefully play on the right-hand side.

N’Golo Kante and Jorginho should both retain their place from the Arsenal game but Ross Barkley will start after having come on as a substitute in the second half vs Arsenal.

David Luiz started the game against Arsenal last weekend but the Brazilian might be rested vs Spurs meaning Christensen will play in central defence alongside Antonio Rudiger.

Marcos Alonso and Ceaser Azpilicueta should retain their role as respective full-backs.
