Kante Chelsea
Fikayo Tomori, Kante & Wijnaldum Liverpool vs Chelsea

Chelsea have lost 4-2 at home to London rivals Arsenal meaning they have now lost three consecutive home games for the first time in 28 years.

This loss will raise a lot of questions regarding Chelsea’s bench strength but will do very little to affect their position on the Premier League table.

The Blues did manage to fight back twice after going behind but by the final quarter, Chelsea had lost all their energy as well as creativity.

Despite this loss, the Blues will still be third on the league table but they have a series of tough games coming up. Next up, they take on West Ham United on Sunday and then they face Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Chelsea player ratings vs Arsenal:

Edouard Mendy: 4.6/10

The keeper has looked really faulty in recent weeks and this match was another example that Mendy needs to pull up his socks.

Christensen: 4.8/10

The defender had a terrible night as his mishit in the 13th minute ended in Eddie Nkeitah opening the scoring for Arsenal.

He was so poor that he had to be take off at half time.

Malang Sarr: 6.7/10

He did make a few mistakes here and there but overall he did pretty well to deputise in place of Antonio Rudiger.

Reece James: 7.2/10

The right flank was the main avenue for Chelsea’s attack and Reece James did put in some very fine deliveries inside the box but sadly no one was there to meet them.

Marcos Alonso: 7.2/10

The full-back made one key pass during the match and was very energetic in the opponent’s half but when it came to defending against Bukayo Saka, the full-back looked visibly nervy.

Kante: 7.4/10

He made eight recoveries, four interceptions and was dispossed only once.

Loftus-Cheek: 6.6/10

At the back of his fine performance vs Palace, Loftus-Cheek was given a start against Arsenal but he majorly dissapointed on Wednesday.

He won just four out of the ten duels he attempted during the 90 minutes.

Azpilicueta: 7/10

Azpilicueta scored the second goal for Chelsea to level things up at 2-2 but then he wiped out all his good work by giving away an injury time penalty.

Mason Mount: 6.9/10

He provided an assist during the match but overwise was pretty muted.

Timo Werner: 7.3/10

This was one of his better games as he tried three shots out of which one was a goal.

Lukaku: 6.5/10

He had yet another poor outing as he had only one shot on target but that too was off target. He was taken off in the 60th minute and rightly so.

Substitutes:

Thiago Silva: 7.1/10

He replaced Christensen in the second half but his entry did not change things too much because Arsenal scored two goals in the second half.

Kai Havertz: N/A

He replaced Lukaku in the 60th minute but did not do anything noteworthy.

Hakim Ziyech: N/A
