Chelsea welcome Man United in the FA Cup this Monday and both the sides have gone through a set of mixed emotions this past week.

While the Blues have won their Europa League clash vs Malmo 2-1, Man United, on the other hand, suffered their first defeat under Solskjaer at the hands of PSG in the Champions League.

In the domestic department though, Man United are flying high as they are yet to taste defeat ever since Mourinho was sacked.

And Chelsea’s last game in the Premier League was a 6-0 drubbing at the hands of Manchester City last weekend.

But this fifth round FA Cup, unlike the other club fixtures, will not have a replay.

FA Cup is a competition known for its famous replays but the Chelsea vs Man United will be sorted on Monday itself.

This means that if the scores are tied after 90 minutes then the match will go into extra time and then penalties if required.

The new rule was announced by the FA in December as reported by the MEN, the FA opted to remove replays a year early than initially planned in order to

“alleviate fixture congestion, with six Premier League clubs qualifying for the knockout stages of European competitions and UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League ties and a midweek round of Premier League fixtures scheduled in latter February and March.”

From the 2019-20 season, the fifth round ties will move to a midweek slot instead of being a weekend fixture due to a fact that a mid-season break is about to be introduced.
