Premier League clubs Man United and Chelsea have both been linked with Fiorentina winger Federico Chiesa over the past couple of months.

But it seemed like the Premier League sides were about to miss out on him after the 22-year-old revealed that there have been no talks with other clubs and right now he is fully focused on playing for his current team.

‘There are no negotiations, there is Fiorentina,’ he told Corriere dello Sport. ‘I focus on working every day, achieving immediate objectives, first and foremost securing safety. We just hope to get back to playing and the rest will follow.

‘My objective is to improve in general, not just on a technical level, because I am the first to acknowledge that I need to become a more complete player.’

But now out of nowhere, Fiorentina’s football general Joe Barone has claimed that there is indeed interest in Federico Chiesa and it primarily is coming from English clubs.

‘Chiesa is a Fiorentina player,’ Barone told La Gazzetta dello Sport, via Daily Mail.

‘There are clubs knocking at the door for Chiesa, some of them who speak English… We’ll see, for the moment we just need to finish the season and he is very concentrated on doing well for us.’

Chelsea or Man United: Where’s Chiesa headed?

Right now the two Premier League clubs who have shown an inclination towards signing Chiesa are Manchester United and Chelsea.

But we think the Old Trafford outfit are expected to pull out of this transfer race once they get their hands on Dortmund’s young sensation Jadon Sancho.

Sancho and Chiesa play on the same wing so Man United will not be foolish enough to waste money on two same kinds of forwards, more so when they have Daniel James amongst their ranks.

This leaves the gap wide open for Chelsea to land the 22-year-old and with the likes of Willian and Pedro looking to head out of the club, Chiesa could be the perfect signing for Frank Lampard.

Apart from Man United and Chelsea, the likes of Spurs and Arsenal have also been linked with the Fiorentina man but the two North London clubs are not too serious about making a move for him.
