Premier League Daniel Sturridge

Daniel Sturridge has been linked with a move to Rangers for a couple of weeks now but it looks like Steven Gerrard might eventually miss out on his once former teammate.

The forward fell down the pecking order at Anfield during the past couple of seasons and last season he only managed to make 18 Premier League appearances for the club.

And as soon as the 2018-19 season ended, Jurgen Klopp announced publicly that the club will not be providing a new deal to Daniel Sturridge.

Yes, the striker has seen very little game time last campaign but he is still one of the better England forwards there is and Gerrard had been planning to sign him up in case Alfredo Morelos chose to leave the club.

The Sunday Post reported: “Rangers are searching for a striker as they ready themselves for receiving an offer for Alfredo Morelos they can’t refuse.

“It is understood that should an offer surpassing the £19.8-million Celtic got for Moussa Dembele from Lyon be received, Steven Gerrard would be prepared to cash in.

“The Rangers manager would then look to use a chunk of the fee to bring in a replacement, with Gerrard’s former Liverpool team-mate, Daniel Sturridge, one striker who has been consistently linked with a move to Ibrox.

“Though a free agent, he would nevertheless represent a significant investment due to his high wages.”

Now though it looks like Aston Villa have shown an interest in signing Daniel Sturridge as they look to rejuvenate their attack for the upcoming Premier League season.

Daniel Sturridge is no stranger at Villa Park as he spent some time at the club’s youth academy before moving to Coventry and this could be a match made in heaven for both the parties.

If the former Liverpool man wanted to join Steven Gerrard’s Rangers then he would have to take a massive pay cut which is something of a last resort for him.

But if Daniel Sturridge chooses to join Aston Villa, he will not only be getting hefty wages but will also be playing in the Premier League next season.
