Liverpool lost their first points of the new Premier League after they drew their game against Chelsea 1-1 at Stamford Bridge.

And speaking after the game David Luiz revealed why the Blues have been performing at their peak this season.

Chelsea were by far the better side on the night and they were on the verge of a 1-0 victory. But it was a late strike from Daniel Sturridge which salvaged a point for Jurgen Klopp’s men.

And defender David Luiz was instrumental in the draw – successfully keeping the likes of Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah at bay.

The defender who was on the verge of being sold during the January transfer window has now become an instrumental part of the team under Maurizio Sarri and now David Luiz has spoken about the positivity that the new boss brings into the side.

Speaking after the 1-1 draw, David Luiz said: “Sarri is giving us a lot of happiness to play football. We are trying to enjoy,” Luiz told Chelsea TV(as reported by the Standard).

“He gives us a lot of confidence. He shows us what he wants. He gives us the details about the game. He works hard in every situation. And also as a human he’s a fantastic person.

“Every single day he says to us ‘you have the best job in the world, so you have to enjoy’. You have to try to do this with a big smile. Many people in the world don’t have this privilege.

“We’re not going to win the title in this (game, against Liverpool). We tried to do our best to win the game and we continue to work hard every day. The season is long, it’s just the beginning. Let’s continue to play.”

David Luiz along with Antonio Rudiger frustrated Sadio Mane and co while the Chelsea forwards caused havoc at the other end.

Chelsea are now third on the league table with 17 points while the draw means that Liverpool have slipped down from that top spot with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City now sitting pretty at the number one spot.
