Manchester United keeper David De Gea’s current deal expires at the end of the season and the parties are currently in talks over a new deal.

A few months ago, reports had suggested that De Gea was ready to sign a new deal at the club but it’s already close to the end of the season but no concrete news has come out yet.

United do have the option to extend the deal for one more year but it is very clear that the management do not want to go into that situation.

Recent reports have that De Gea wants around 400,000 pounds per week as per the terms of the new deal which the club are right now not ready to accept.

This seems to be the only roadblock for De Gea signing the new deal but Solskjaer has now come out to claim that he is confident that his No 1 will put pen on paper pretty soon.

“There are no updates from me, the club and David are in dialogue, hopefully, they’ll agree, it’s out of my hands but I’m sure we’ll do what we can,” said Solskjaer.

“David’s done fantastic since he came, the club really showed how much they wanted him back in the day when Eric and ‘the Gaffer’ found him.

“There were probably keepers that were better at that time but the belief the manager showed in him, with the criticism he got early on, paid dividends.

“He’s been player of the year I don’t know how many years, four or five, we’re grateful to have him.

“Then again we’ve got Sergio [Romero] and Lee [Grant], a fantastic goalkeeper department, I don’t think there’s any manager in the world who’ll beat me in that respect.”

David De Gea is without a doubt the most prized asset for Man United any most pundits feel that the keeper is using this leverage to demand such high wages.

But as things stand, United need to pay whatever he asks or risk losing one of the best in the world.
