West Ham United are finding it really hard to hold onto youngster Declan Rice who has rejected a new contract at the club – as per reports.

Declan Rice broke into the first team setup last season and the Hammers are desperately trying to make him sign a new deal at the club.

Rice currently earns £3,000 a week and his representatives are pushing hard to increase that amount.

West Ham United have offered the midfielder a new deal in which he was set to receive £15,000 a week – with an increase after every 15 Premier League games.

But Declan Rice has rejected that offer.

£15,000 a week is nothing in today’s day and age and the player’s representatives want higher basic salary with fewer add-ons.

Some reports also suggest the midfielder is demanding a fixed salary in the range of £30,000 per week – though such reports cannot be verified at this point.

Apart from the West Ham United contract, Declan Rice must also decide on whether he would play for England or Ireland given that he is eligible to play for both nations.

Rice has already represented the Republic of Ireland but he will still be able to switch allegiances given all those matches were friendlies.

West Ham full-back Pablo Zabaleta recently claimed that the youngster has the potential to become one of the best players in the history of West Ham and if the club cannot up their salary then surely they risk losing him next summer.
