According to a report by Caught Offside, Chelsea have surprisingly agreed on personal terms with West Ham United’s Declan Rice ahead of Manchester United.

United and Chelsea are the two sides who have been heavily linked with the England international and it’s Man United who are in more need of a world-class defensive midfielder. But as per the report(which is relaying news from Spain), it’s the Blues who are inching ahead at the moment.

Whether West Ham United make it into the Champions League or not, Declan Rice is likely to leave at the end of this season and as per a Hammers’ source, David Moyes is also ready to part ways with the midfielder.

The 23-year-old still has two more years left on his current deal so West Ham are looking to get a transfer fee of around £120 million and both Man United and Chelsea are ready to pay such an astronomical fee.

Are Chelsea closer to signing Declan Rice than Man United?

Caught Offside aren’t the only ones who are reporting that Declan Rice is closer to joining Chelsea rather than Manchester United.

Recently, the Independent had also suggested that Rice is keen to join his former side rather than joining Manchester United so this report of agreeing on personal terms might very well be true.

Chelsea are willing to break the bank to be able to sign Declan Rice during the summer but Manchester United are more than ready to battle their PL rivals.

United did not sign a defensive midfielder in January just so they can go all out and sign the West Ham United man meaning there’s no way they will lay the red carpet for Chelsea.

There’s every chance that the England international has his heart set on returning to his former club but if Man United are ready to put a world-record fee on the table then it won’t take too long for the loyalties to swing for the player as well as the Hammers.
