Manchester United and Chelsea have been put on high alert as midfielder Declan Rice could be up for sale this summer – as per rumours in England.

Declan Rice was wanted by a number of top Premier League clubs last summer but eventually West Ham United were able to hold onto him for one more season.

The Hammers had no plans of parting with the midfielder this summer either but now The Sun are claiming that Moyes could look to sell Rice off in order to raise funds.

The current lockdown has really impacted the finances of West Ham and the club will need money in order to bring in new players during the summer. And according to the report, Moyes is planning to do that by selling Declan Rice for a fee of around £70 million.

The Sun are claiming: “DECLAN RICE is the star name up for grabs as West Ham prepare for a huge squad overhaul.

“Club insiders say ‘nobody is safe’ from the cull which will be triggered partly by cash flow issues caused by the coronavirus pandemic but also because boss David Moyes wants to reshape the squad for the long term.

“Moyes would prefer to keep Rice but knows there is little money to play with after the big-spending of last summer.

“Moyes wants to construct a younger and hungrier team than the one that was flirting dangerously with relegation before coronavirus brought the Premier League season to a halt.”

This will be great news for the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United since both of them have tried to sign Declan Rice in the past. And now that he could be up for sale, they might try once again.

Chelsea could lose N’Golo Kante this summer while Man United need reinforcements for the next season given that the likes of Pogba and Matic could move out. And so for both these clubs, Rice will be the perfect transfer candidate.

£70 million is a lot of money but Rice has developed a serious reputation as a defensive midfielder and the Hammers can easily get their wishes fulfilled.

Now what remains to be seen is if Moyes is planning to sell only Declan Rice for a large amount of money or is he looking to hold onto him and clear out all the other fringe players in the summer.
