Arsenal signed Denis Suarez from FC Barcelona on a loan spell until the end of the season.

Unai Emery has had eyes on the Barca misfit for some time but the deal took a lot longer to go through given the negotiation problems between the two clubs.

While Barcelona wanted to offload Denis Suarez permanently Arsenal, on the other hand, wanted only a loan spell.

Finally, it was the Gunners who had their say but the loan contract does have an option to buy during the summer transfer window.

While the Gunners fans are optimistic that the midfielder will be able to make a positive impact at the club but what if, Denis Suarez fails at Arsenal during the second half of the season?

And this is a very real possibility since the player had only 17 minutes of football in the La Liga this season meaning he is nowhere close to being at his competitive best.

So, if Denis Suarez were to fail then Arsenal will not be buying him – obviously.

And as per the latest reports, the Gunners will then move their focus to Genk winger Leonardo Trossard.

Trossard has come up through the ranks at Genk and this season he has been in fine goalscoring form.

So far, the winger has made 29 appearances for Genk in all competitions and he has managed to net a staggering 17 goals.

And this performance seems to have caught the eye of the Arsenal management.

The Gunners have the option to buy Denis Suarez for £18million at the end of the season but if the midfielder/winger fails to impress then Emery wants to bring in Trossard who is currently valued at £22 million.

While Denis Suarez is naturally a midfielder, Emery has brought in specifically to fill the gap in the wings meaning Leonardo Trossard will be the perfect replacement for the Barcelona loanee.
