Manchester United were schooled by PSG in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16.

The Ligue 1 side won the game 2-0 and it was a special night for Angel Di Maria.

Di Maria made his return to Old Trafford for the first time since he made his exit from the club and he was given a hostile welcome by the United fans.

The first major incident happened when Ashley Young shoulder checked the forward on the touchline and he went tumbling down and crashed onto the fencing.

Di Maria had an average first half but in the second half he really picked up his game and provided both the assists for PSG’s goals.

Speaking about the forward’s performance, Thomas Tuchel said: “In the first half it was a bit hard for him playing right in front of me and losing many easy balls. He had a bit of a hard time because I was close to him.

“Maybe he was a bit nervous and a bit overused because he plays all the time for us.

“I’m happy he stayed confident, he’s always super reliable, he always gives his best and for that, it’s easy to forgive him when he has not such a good first half.

“It’s always dangerous for him from the corners and of course a superb assist, it was a perfect pass for Kylian. It was a nice comeback for him, I’m very happy for him and of course, he helped us a lot.”

Di Maria made a lot of gestures to rile up the Old Trafford crowd and he even uttered some foul words after PSG scored the first goal.

This naturally angered the fans and while the former Man United man was going to take a free kick a beer bottle was hurled at him.

While Di Maria chose to make fun out of the whole situation, UEFA have reportedly decided to launch a probe on the whole scenario.

But the home fans aren’t the only people who could be in trouble since reports suggest that even the PSG fans were not at their best behaviour as an object was thrown onto the pitch from the away section which landed at Luke Shaw’s feet.
