Arsenal are currently fifth on the Premier League table but already many people believe that they will not be able to finish in the top four.

The Gunners sit just one point behind fourth-placed Manchester United which means they and also Chelsea have a great chance to be back into the Champions League.

Sadly though, the performances on the pitch are not emulating that feeling.

Unai Emery made a number of signing during the summer transfer window and after an initial hiccup, the Gunners went on a fantastic unbeaten run towards the end of 2018.

And according to former Gunner, Ian Wright ‘this’ unbeaten run gave false hope to the Arsenal fans.

Wright told Radio 5 Live: “Going back to the unbeaten run, I think that gave people false hope in respect to finishing fourth.

“It was a great run but during that run, there were times in it where you thought, ‘Ooh, that was a bit tricky for us, could have done better here, could have done better there.’

“But the fact is that that kind of elevated everybody’s expectations a bit and I still feel top four is still out of our reach if I’m going to be totally honest.”

While Arsenal were on that fantastic run, almost everyone felt that Unai Emery has been able to work his magic and that finishing in the top four would be a rather easy job.

But since the start of 2019, things have gone downhill for the London club.

On one hand, Arsenal’s form has slumped and on the other, Manchester United have picked up their game and are now sitting above Unai Emery’s men on the table.
