Jose Mourinho tactics to be used in the FA Cup final?

Jose Mourinho tasted his first defeat as the Spurs manager and it came at the hands of his former club Manchester United on Wednesday.

The Lilywhites went down 2-1 at Old Trafford during a night which saw Marcus Rashford steal all the limelight by scoring both the goals for United on either half of the game.

And once the final whistle was blown, all eyes were on Jose Mourinho to see how he reacted to his first loss as the new Spurs boss and that too at the hands of the club which sacked him a year ago.

Fortunately though, the Portuguese was overall very respectable when talking about his former side but he did make a few statements in the media which have caught the attention of a few people.

Jose Mourino told the press that Man United find it easier to play against teams which like to take the initiative during matches and not hold back. And according to many, this was a dig at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his counter-attacking tactics which the manager has been using so far this season.

“You look at United’s results this season against the best teams and they had good results,” he told a news conference.

“I think at home when they play like they did [against] Chelsea, Liverpool and Leicester – also a great team this season – they always had this kind of attitude. I think it’s easier for them.

“I think for the way they play it’s easier for them, they’re not afraid to be with a defensive approach, they are not afraid to be at home and to take their time, to be in control of the emotions of the game and then lots of young people with lots of energy and with a good mentality.

“When they are winning matches, they are comfortable in this situation of low block with a giant [Harry Maguire] there almost dominating in the air and being fast in counter-attack with Marcus, with [Daniel] James, with Jesse [Lingard], with [Anthony] Martial.

“I think the way they play it’s easier for them when they play against the teams that are better teams, teams that want more of the ball, teams that want to have the initiative of the game so I think they did well.”

Jose Mourinho has not uttered any nonsense about Man United during the buildup of this game and this statement is just classic Jose – a man with no filter. But this necessarily does not mean, he chose to attack the Solskjaer or his tactics.
