Liverpool picked up an emphatic win 5-2 win in the Merseyside Derby and once again there were whispers about the Reds remaining unbeaten during the course of the season.
Last season, Liverpool lost only 1 game in the league but still failed to pick up the title which has led many people to believe that the Anfield outfit will need to remain unbeaten if they wish to end their title drought.
But when Jurgen Klopp was asked this question, the German chose to make it very clear that he isn’t really interested in this statistic and his only focus is Liverpool’s next game in the Premier League.
“I would love that [32 matches unbeaten] in one season,” Klopp said[as quoted by Goal.com]. “That would be great.
“Last season we were nearly 38 games unbeaten but it was not enough. Nice number but not really interested in it.
“I can’t remember one game in the 100 [of my league wins] where we shouldn’t have won it. It feels like we have to win each and every game. All the wins are necessary.
“It’s a good start, that’s it – maybe a perfect start. We sleep twice, maybe three times then we play Bournemouth.
“They are in the moment and will go with all they have so we have to recover and go again.”
So far, Liverpool have dropped just two points in the league during a draw vs Manchester United and it is safe to say they can go into next year without losing a game.
But one big concern for Klopp would be the game vs Leicester City on Boxing Day since the Foxes are not only playing some fine football but they are right now a title challenger as well.
